Storm damage and Repair Spurs

Storm Connall, Storm Darragh and now Storm Éowyn. The storms we’ve had in the last few months have taken a toll on fences up and down the country. Fence repairs are at a high and any weaknesses in fences have been vulnerable in the fierce winds we’ve had.

One thing we recommend people to consider, especially if your fence is older or exposed to the elements, is to reinforce your fence posts using concrete repair spurs. This is a quick and secure fix, they will help reinforce a timber fence post which should hopefully stop you having to replace lap fence panels. They are easily secured in place. All you need to fit a concrete post repair spur is postmix, coach screws and washers to finish off the fitting.

However, if the post you are looking to support is rotten, it is only a matter of time until it comes down. In that case, it is definitely better to opt for a new wooden fence post but that doesn’t mean that you can’t add a concrete repair spur when putting the new post in.

The other thing to consider with all of the storms around are the fence panels. We admit that you can get panels cheaper at some bargain stores around the area but we know for sure that having high-quality panels which have a secure frame is worth the extra money. A lap fence panel is going to take the brunt of the wind from any future storms so they are definitely worth investing in.
